This biggest tank of Puri is 2 km. a long way from Jagannath Temple. It is arranged on the left side
of the Grand Road running from Jagannath Sanctuary to Gundicha Temple. A decent methodology

Master Govind Das mentioned the ruler to unearth a popular tank for her purposes, after the name of her late spouse Veer Narendra Dev. To satisfy the craving of the sovereign he likewise mentioned the lord to name the principal ghata after Narendra Dev, the following one in the name of sovereign Kalandi Devi.

The ruler too developed fourteen ghatas after the name of fourteen children of Narendra Dev. “During the rule of King Narendra Dev of the vassal state Ranpur had awesome connection with the Gajapati ruler of Puri. Ruler Narendra Dev was an incredible aficionado of Lord Jagannath. When he got a pumpkin seed while moving leasurely in the countryard of his castle.

The ruler in his jaunty state of mind gave the seed to a Sarbarakara (Revenue Collector). He advised the Sarbarakara to sow the seed in the name of Lord Jagannath and to offer every one of the pumpkins created to the Lord. The Sarbarakara sowed the seed for the sake of Lord Jagannath with full commitment. Incredibly the development of the pumpkin creeper was luxurant and covered an area of 14 sections of land.

This creeper had an existence of 5 years. Lakhs of pumpkins were delivered. The sarbarakara sold every one of the pumpkins worth lakhs of rupees.
